For nearly five decades, MVFF has been a place where filmmakers feel genuinely welcomed — where films are not just screened, but embraced by thoughtful, curious audiences. As the oldest fall film festival in California, we take pride in offering a high-profile platform while keeping the atmosphere intimate, engaged, and filmmaker-first.

Every year, over 300 filmmakers and special guests come together in beautiful Marin County, fostering conversations and connections that only happen when artists and audiences truly meet. We’ve had the honor of hosting a diverse group of renowned filmmakers, but what excites us just as much is discovering someone new.

MVFF has long been recognized for launching films into the U.S. market and creating early momentum in the awards season conversation. We are particularly drawn to premieres and fresh work that feels urgent, unique, and ready to meet an audience.
