Join us as we pay tribute to an acting legend, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and discuss some of the highlights of his illustrious career—one that’s been consistently full of unforgettable characters and brilliant acting turns—including Silence of the Lambs and his latest The Father. This Tribute program will feature a video conversation with Anthony Hopkins and the presentation of the MVFF Award.

In what will be remembered as one of his finest roles, Anthony Hopkins stars alongside fellow Oscar® winner Olivia Colman in THE FATHER, a powerful examination of a caring father-daughter relationship as he grapples with a life that’s become increasingly racked by confusion and disorientation. Spry octogenarian Anthony (Hopkins) loves the freedom of living alone in his spacious London apartment, but with recent lapses in memory and lucidity, his devoted daughter Anne (Colman, exceptional as always) has an uphill battle trying to convince her stubborn father to accept the help of a caretaker before her imminent move to Paris. Adapting his darkly humorous and profoundly stirring play Le père for the screen, renowned French playwright Florian Zeller makes a successful transition into the director’s chair. Aided by Hopkins’ astounding performance, Zeller places the audience into Anthony’s mind, artfully and sympathetically navigating his mental decline in ways that no other film has ever fully accomplished.
